Check the local weather forecast for the expected overnight low temperature, and then bundle up more than you might think is necessary.

Even in summertime, nights can get surprisingly chilly, so have at least a sweater or light jacket close at hand. In winter especially, protect your head with a woolen pullover cap.

And remember that, for the most part, stargazing is a sedentary activity.
