Above the W of Cassiopeia is the constellation Cepheus (the King). In mythology, Cepheus was the husband of Cassiopeia. The main stars of the constellation form a pattern resembling a simple drawing of a house.

A cepheid variable is a very important star type. First found in Cepheus, they helped astronomers determine a universal distance scale.
