There is a striking asterism of three stars form the belt of Orion, the Hunter. The three belt stars—Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka—are equally spaced and in nearly a straight line. The belt is also home to the Horsehead Nebula and to the incredibly beautiful Great Orion Nebula.

This movie takes you through 3D space—much faster than the speed of light—from a point behind the stars of Orion. We'll pull back through the dark dust of the Horsehead and continue up through the Great Orion Nebula.

Don't be surprised if you can't recognize Orion's shape. Remember, the constellations we've come to know are only illusions; they are only patterns of stars as seen from Earth.
