Swift little Mercury often appears to speed across the face of the sun. This is called a transit of Mercury. But of course, you need an appropriate solar filter to safely track the little black disk against the huge bright mass behind it.

If you're very lucky, your telescope might spot Mercury and a sunspot cluster in the same field of view. If you ever witness this, you'll appreciate how incredibly large a sunspot really is!
