Neptune is a gas giant, but not a big one as gas giants go—3.9 times Earth's diameter and 17 times its mass. But it's the densest of the gas worlds.

As with Uranus, Neptune's blue-green hue is generated by a small amount of methane (2% of its atmosphere) mixing with hydrogen (84%) and helium (14%).
