Moon Missions: Apollo 12 On the Moon

The Apollo 12 astronauts performed two moonwalks on their flight. During the first moonwalk they set up the ALSEP experiment package and collected lunar samples. They walked about 1 km during this four hour period outside the lunar module.

During the second moonwalk they set out on a geologic traverse to points of interest, collected lunar samples, and visited Surveyor 3. They cut pieces off the spacecraft for return to Earth and returned to the Lunar Module. The second walk lasted four hours and they walked 1.3 km (almost 1 mile).
