Moon Missions: Apollo 13 Around the Moon

One unique aspect of the Apollo 13 mission is that during the 25 minutes the crew was behind the moon out of contact with Earth, they passed 255 km (140 miles) above the backside and set a new record for being the farthest away from earth: 248,655,460,509 km (155,409,662,818 miles) from Earth; this record holds today.

The large, conspicuous 'dark' area on the lower left is Mare Moscoviense.
The Apollo 13 crew photographed the moon out the Lunar Module overhead rendezvous window as they passed by; the deactivated Command Module is visible.
