Moon Missions: Apollo 14 Approaching the Moon

On the third day of the trip, some 288,000 km (180,000 miles) out, astronaut Mitchell made these comments:

Mitchell: From our point of view, the moon appears about the size of a grapefruit, held at the arm's length. It's going to get considerably bigger. I don't have the Earth to compare it with at the moment. But I suspect they are about the same size or maybe the moon is starting to exceed the Earth in apparent size.
