Moon Missions: Apollo 16 Trans-lunar Injection

Two and a half hours later, the third stage engine was reignited for 342 seconds to send them on the way to the moon. At 3 hours 5 minutes, the Command Service Module (nicknamed Casper) separated from the third stage and docked with the Lunar Module (nicknamed Orion)

Not long after docking, the crew noticed particles emanating from the lunar module. It was thought the material might be leaking fuel, but it was determined to be bits of paint flaking off the Lunar Module’s metal surface. It would not affect the mission.
