Moon Missions: Apollo 17 Into Lunar Orbit

Apollo 17 entered lunar orbit on December 10, 1972. The next day, the orbit was changed to a low point of 29 km (18 miles) to set up for the landing. Astronauts Cernan and Schmitt entered the Lunar Module and undocked from the Command Service Module.
