Twenty years after the Voyager spacecraft visited the ringed planet, NASA’'s Jet Propulsion Laboratory sent its most sophisticated mission to Saturn. Named after the seventeenth century astronomer Giovanni Cassini, the spacecraft’'s assignment was to make a detailed study of Saturn from orbit. As part of its mission, a probe (called Huygens) carried piggyback, was to land on Titan, Saturn’'s largest moon.
