The mission of the two Voyager spacecraft was to explore and photograph the gas giants: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
Voyager 2 was launched on August 20, 1977 and Voyager 1 on September 5, 1977. Because of its shorter and faster path, Voyager 1 would reach Jupiter and Saturn first. However, because of its encounter with SaturnÂ’'s moon Titan, this spacecraft would then leave the solar system. Only Voyager 2 would carry on to Uranus and Neptune.
Let's take a closer look at the Voyager 2 space mission.
