Space Missions: Voyager 2 Launch
Each Voyager space probe carries a gold-plated audio-visual disk in the event that either spacecraft is ever found by intelligent life-forms from other planetary systems. The disks carry photos of the Earth and its life-forms, a range of scientific information, spoken greetings, the sounds of whales, a baby crying, and waves breaking on a shore, and a collection of music, including works by Mozart and other Eastern and Western classics.

Voyager 2 was launched on August 20, 1977 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. It was scheduled to visit the planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune before leaving our solar system.

Let's hitch a ride on this spacecraft as it explores the outer solar system.
