It is now the middle of August 1979 and we are nearing the planet Saturn with its magnificent ring system. Already many of Saturn’'s large moons are visible.

Click the “run time forward” button to rendezvous with the ringed planet. In the early hours of August 25, 1981, stop the animation and then use the “Step time forward” button to get a good look at the closest approach and some time after.

Note especially the shadows cast on the planet by the rings and the appearance of the planet.
